Crotonaldehyde is a raw material for sorbic acid; crotonic acid; crotonylidene ureas, used as slow release fertilizers; thiophenes; quinaldines; pyridines; pharmaceuticals; dyes; and pesticides. It is a comonomer and flow promoting agent in alkyd resins.
